Skin disease is a common problem that causes great
distress for pets and their owners. In some cases, an exam will allow
the veterinarian to diagnose the problem. However, further diagnostic
testing such as bloodwork, skin scrapings, and fungal cultures may be
necessary to accurately obtain a diagnosis. It is important to bring
your pet to a veterinarian as soon as a skin problem is noticed.
Scratching, biting, and licking can aggravate the problem, lead to
secondary infections, and most importantly is very discomforting for
your pet.
It is important to note that some symptoms of skin
disease are actually symptoms of allergies. Allergies are an immune
system disorder that manifests itself on the skin of animals, and
therefore is commonly mistaken as a skin problem. Click Here for more information. |
